Was probably our favourite dinner in Porto..and maybe top 10 in our travels.. Carlos was awesome and his team made great food into a lovely experience.. We appreciated his love of Portugal and his pride of this restaurant.. Thanks again for the great food and service

Thanks to the other reviews I tried the octopus - and it really was the best octopus I ever had. The ambient is beautiful and the young man did a great job as server. I wish I tried one of their desserts but unfortunately I was too full, so maybe next time. The prices are great for what you get.
Be aware though: if you eat the amuse-gueul that’s waiting for you on the table you have to pay for it like you would for a normal appetiser, even without ordering it specifically! Thankfully it was really tasty so I wasn’t mad about it ;)

This restaurant is a little gem. Very small, so you need to reserve a table. The decor is lovely, a limited menu but good quality and generous portions. Managed to leave room for one of the many delicious desserts. Very friendly staff.

We were lucky to get a table for 5 people on a busy Sunday night. And we really were lucky! Each and every little thing was perfect - from the starters to literally the best octopus ever and the wonderful house special, the Cod Maria Rita. A wonderful and welcoming team made us feel right at home and recommended us some of the best wine we had in Portugal. We'll definitely be back at some point!

Amazing grilled cod, grilled sardines! The host was helpful and recommend a great wine and it was a great price point. Va Real great full bodied red wine. A must if you go to Porto-authentic! You won’t be disappointed!

Restaurante Maria Rita was a fantastic find! The food was delicious, authentic, comforting, and clearly made with love! The ambiance was cozy and charming, and the service was exceptional. Epic authentic Portuguese dinner tonight. Full of heart and emotion. Quite possibly the best grilled and baked cod I have ever had. Best grilled octopus my friend has ever had, even after all his years living in Spain. This place was recommended by a Portuguese friend from Providence. Cod cakes were divine. The Douro wine recommended was elegant and went beautifully with our hearty seafood. Desserts were delicious.

Probably our favorite dinner after a week in Portugal! Excellent service that was attentive. Yes it could be a bit slow at times, but it was relaxed and so friendly. All of the dishes were fabulous.. Great wine selection and the manager was so helpful about helping us choose wines. We loved every minute of it. Yes reservations, and cash only.

The place is very cozy with a nice decoration. They treated us wonderfully, the dishes came out very quickly and they were always attentive and friendly with us. The food was spectacular, the cod soft and very tasty. The meat at its point and very well seasoned. I totally recommend it!

Looooved everything, delicious traditional Portuguese restaurant packed with locals and not just tourists for a change, recommended by a local. Octopus and house grilled cod dishes both were outstanding. Delicious bottle of red plus amazing attentive service

The best grilled Bacalhau I have ever had in Portugal. Couldnt get in for weeks, and then finally we got lucky. Service was excellent and the food exceptional.
